Searchlight Round 2 (!!!)

Very proud to be representing Kelowna, BC in the CBC Music ‪#‎Searchlight‬competition. Last week George Stromboulopoulos (The Strombo Show) picked us as one of his top 5 favourite Searchlight artists. Today we found out that we made it through to the next round. Voting isn't the only factor, but it doesn't hurt! Video and voting link here, thanks so much for all your support! - Andrew

Strombo's Top 5

Stoked to be one of Strombo's top 5 #Searchlight picks. Thanks George!

Searchlight

We are once again in the CBC ‪#‎Searchlight‬ competition. This year is different because it's not entirely based on votes, although they still count a little (wink emoticon) . I'm not going to spam you about this again, as we have lots of other exciting news to share with you real soon. Thanks!

I'm turning 5

5 years ago today I released my first album "The Preacher's Basement". Wow, So much has changed since then!

I almost didn't release the album. I had actually finished the majority of it years before the release, but felt it wasn't good enough so I shelved it and went back to work at my regular day job. Basically I gave up on music, for a time.

Then in 2011 I decided I was going to dive head first into this crazy world of music again and record another album (Albino Black Bear). However, it didn't feel right that the songs on Preacher's Basement hadn't yet been heard (save for a few close friends and family).

So I polished it up, and released it on March 15th 2011... which I guess could be defined as the unofficial start of my career as a musician. Crazy, it feels like I've been doing this my whole life... but 5 years isn't that long! I'm now doing music full time, a dream which I thought was impossible 5 years ago. Thanks everybody for your love and support, I'm so glad I decided to give music another chance. There is so much more to come.

The Midtown Blanket

Award winning filmmaker Philip Bloom made a beautiful video of the recent "Snowpocalypse" in NYC. It features an old b-side of mine called Winter Solstice. Its like the perfect music video for a song I recorded in probably about 45 minutes.. years ago. I love it. You can license my music for use in your films at: https://www.musicbed.com/artists/andrew-judah/37590
